Other big pre-ordered items include a hook for 15-hundred and a sheath - not even a weapon - for 25-hundred The Chinese economy MUST be getting better.If you_re hoping for a Half Life 3 announcement sadly I have to burst your bubble. Gaming sites and blogs have been reporting on certain hints and supposed leaks that seemed to suggest a promotional Alternative Reality Game forthcoming. But Valve says it_s all bunk. One spokesperson said bluntly You are being trolled. There is no ARG. So that confirms that. Or does it?Piracy costs the industry millions - but that didn_t stop the naughty boys and girls at TorrentFreak from reporting on the most pirated games of 2011. On the PC the champ was Crysis 3 on the Wii it was Super Mario Galaxy 2 and on the Xbox 360 it was Gears of War 3. And Modern Warfare 3 got downloaded almost 4 and a half million times across all platforms. Those 4 titles combined for over 10 million illegal downloads. Ouch.Fans of old-school games know about MAME or Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It_s a program that lets you play arcade titles on your PC. Well now it can even run in Google Chrome. All you need to do is install it and hundreds of your quarter-gobbling favorites will be at your fingertips if you can find the ROM files. Of course many of them are technically illegal so let your conscience be your guide.Now on to our review - Star Wars: The Old Republic for the PC Fans have been clamoring for a good Star Wars MMO especially since Star Wars Galaxies was a disappointing mixture of full of bugs that never got fixed. First impressions are: so far so good. After some opening cinematics that are among the best I_ve seen it_s time to create a character. There_s a bunch of different races and classes to choose from including 2 kinds of both Jedi and Sith. One welcome change that sets this apart from other MMOs is that quest givers are completely voice-acted instead of text a nice touch. I_m running the game on a pretty low-end laptop and so far it_s been near perfect with cool graphics great sound and minimal lag. I_ve encountered a couple of slight glitches like getting the same missions twice. Also servers have been filling up fast which can result in long wait times to get in. But for an MMO this new I understand it_s a work in progress and Bioware is working hard to fix any problems. Most of all it_s fun and could be a HUGE time suck. I_ll give it a solid 4 out of 5 naked ns. For the Game Spot I_m RS.

What should have been a picturesque vacation turned deadly off the Italian resort island of Giglio (ZHEE-lee-oh).NO) A passenger cruise ship making what SHOULD have been a routine voyage through friendly waters ran aground off the west coast of Italy. And naturally people want to know WHY EA) Here_s what we know so far. 1. EA) The casualty count has risen to at least six after the luxury liner Costa Concordia hit a reef off the Italian coast. According to officials as many as 16 passengers and crew remain unaccounted for. The ship_s captain Francesco Schettino (skeh-TEE-no) insists that his charts showed that he was in safe waters.NO) Prosecutors have hit Schettino (skeh-TEE-no) with several charges including manslaughter. They also accuse him of abandoning his ship several hours before the last of the passengers were evacuated. As for the recovery efforts they_ve been suspended due to inclement weather. 2. EA) Iran is talking tough with its neighbours in the Persian Gulf. Officials say there will be repercussions if their fellow OPEC (OH-pek) membercountries increase oil output to compensate for the looming ban on Iranian crude. The warning comes mere weeks after President Barack Obama signed legislation making it nearly impossible for most governments to buy oil from Tehran.NO) As a result Asian leaders reliant on foreign oil have begun negotiating with several Middle Eastern countries. Iranian officials are calling this an act of aggression stating that those responsible will be quote the main culprits for whatever happens in the region.3. EA) Meanwhile on the US political front yet another Republican presidential hopeful has dropped out of the GOP election race. Jon Huntsman the former ambassador to China has officially withdrawn from the race to become the GOP nominee. Some members of his campaign staff appeared to be caught off guard by the news after Huntsman placed a surprising 3rd at the New Hampshire primary.NO) Huntsman now says he_ll endorse frontrunner Mitt Romney. A campaign official said that Huntsman doesn_t want to stand in the way of the man most likely to defeat President Obama and fix the struggling US economy. Former speaker Newt Gingrich seemed especially chipper about the news. He issued a statement claiming that Huntsman_s resignation means that HE_S one step closer to the presidency.EA) It wouldn_t be an election season without a healthy dose of hubris (hyoo-bris) would it?NO) Not at all. And if you_re someone who would like a celebrity face to attach to the disaster here_s an unlikely one for you: Sir Richard Branson. The billionaire behind Virgin recently shared a series of blog posts and tweets detailing Irma_s destruction of the British Virgin Islands including his Necker Island home. He remains in the region mobilizing aid efforts and I_ll just say I_m glad he_s got deep pockets As if all that weren_t enough we may still have to deal with Hurricane Jose Though any potential hit shouldn_t come until next week long-range weather models give it a 1 in 4 chance of landing in the U.S. a 1 in 4 chance of landing in Canada and a 1 in 2 chance of remaining at sea. The small silver lining is if Jose hits anywhere from South Carolina to Newfoundland it_s expected to have diminished to a Category 1 Hurricane with ONLY 90 mile per hour winds. Our lead story involves an ominous safety warning from aircraft engineers about the world_s biggest passenger jet the Airbus A-380. It_s led to major questions about passenger safety. For more on this story we_ll turn things over to Victoria Sinclair in the Naked Newsroom.VS) Thank you Eila. Australian engineers are calling for the grounding of all Airbus A380 models. This comes after both Qantas and Singapore Airlines found cracks in the wings of the super jumbo jets. Both companies maintain that the planes are safe. However Steve Purvinas (pur-VIN-iss) secretary of the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association feels otherwise. Purvinas says it_s unacceptable for airlines to gamble with passenger lives and wants all A380s grounded for inspection. There are currently 67 of the jumbo jet models in operation used by 7 prominent airlines including Air France Emirates and Lufthansa. Now to a different warning that could have equally dangerous consequences. Drug manufacturer Novartis (no-VART-iss) is recalling several popular over-the-counter medicines amid fears that bottles may contain powerful painkillers instead. The pills in question include Excedrin and No-Doz (no-doze) expiring before December 20 2014 and Gas-X and Bufferin expiring before December 20 2013. It_s believed that these bottles - from a troubled plant in Lincoln Nebraska - could contain powerful opioids such as Percocet (PERK-oh-set). The plant in question has been shut down. According to the FDA hundreds of complaints have gone un-rectified at the plant in the past two years. If you think you may have the products involved in this voluntary recall more information can be found at novartisOTC.com.The Consumer Electronics Show - the biggest tech show of it_s kind in the world - is underway in Las Vegas. And as usual it_s a feast for any tech junky Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer kicked things off by delivering what could be the company_s last keynote address at the show. The company also announced that Kinect - their popular motion controller for the Xbox 360 - will be coming for the PC. That will allow users to control their computer without a mouse. That_s far later than in MOST other countries but I guess all good things come to those who wait Eila EA) (laughs with slight look to side) You_ve got that right The biggest party took place at Disneyland in Tokyo with hundreds of kimono-clad women clamoring for a photo with Mickey Mouse. RM) Things elsewhere in Asia haven_t been as cheerful lately. When news broke of the passing of North Korean dictator _____ millions of citizens POURED into the streets to express their grief. Well it turns out some people didn_t grieve HARD enough Eila. And so the government is punishing anyone who MISSED the mass gatherings with a six-month labour camp sentence EA) Same goes for people who DID attend but who didn_t seem sad enough. And it doesn_t stop there either. Sentences are also being handed to anyone who attempted to leave the country during the extended mourning period for the Eternal Leader and to anyone who tried using a cell phone to make calls out. Rachel Simmons watched every second of the game and binged on wings and nachos so I_m sure she can tell you all about it. PP) What_s going on Rachel?RS) Wait a sec- are you saying you DIDN_T watch the game?PP) Ah well sort of. I watched Madonna lip-sync the half-time show. (said coyly) I didn_t miss anything did I?RS) Oh no not much JUST ONE OF THE BEST SUPER BOWLS THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN PP) (laughing) Well that_s why YOU_RE here i_m leaving it up to you to fill people like me IN RS) Ok well then get comfy cause this is going to take a while. RS) Like i said it was one of the greatest Super Bowls ever played and a large part of that was because of how it ended. The New York Giants and the New England Patriots were neck and neck down the stretch but with a minute to go in the fourth quarter the Pats were up by 2. Giants_ running back Ahmad (ah-MAHD) Bradshaw scored the go-ahead touchdown but SHOULD have tried to kill the clock by taking a knee at the 1-yard line His quick score gave Tom Brady and the Patriots plenty of time to try for one last dramatic drive. But they just couldn_t do it - the game ended with a Tom Brady Hail Mary that didn_t QUITE connect - but came oh so close Final score 21-17 Giants. And kudos to New York quarterback Eli Manning. He took home MVP honors. What a nailbiter I_ll have more Sports a little later Peyton back to you. Greece is making headlines once again because they_re still treading water and desperately trying to avoid financial ruin. Eila Adams has been watching this story unfold and joins us now with the latest. What_s going on Eila? EA) Peyton in a desperate attempt to avoid bankruptcy Greece is frantically trying to secure a 170-billion dollar bailout from the International Monetary Fund. Without the bailout they won_t be able to cover an 18.9 billion dollar bond repayment which is due on March 20th. Prime Minister Lucas Papademos (loo-KAHSS pah-pah-DAY-mohs) will be meeting with key cabinet ministers to try and come to some agreement on austerity measures. The parties backing his coalition are all vocal opponents of the spending cuts required to receive IMF funding. If Greece goes bankrupt the economic turmoil that follows could lead to the collapse of the Euro.EA) In an interview with NBC_s Matt Lauer ahead of the Super Bowl US President Barack Obama said that NOTHING is off the table when it comes to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.INSERT CLIP-EA) Obama said he_s hoping to solve this crisis through diplomatic measures rather than through force. His comments come amid speculation that Israel may attack Iran as soon as this spring. He downplayed those fears telling Lauer that he didn_t believe that Israel had made up its mind on how to proceed. The US and EU have already imposed strict sanctions against Iran because of their nuclear program.Officials in Egypt will try 19 Americans and 24 others on charges that they illegally funded pro-democracy protesters. Among those being charged is Sam LaHood (la-HUHD) the son of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. One expert calls this move nothing more than a political witch hunt that has brought relations between the US and Egypt to an all-time low. The campaign against pro-democracy organizations has strained relations with the US threatening to freeze 1-point-5 billion dollars in aid. While the allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons Iran vigorously denies it insisting they_re enriching uranium for use in energy only. An Iranian official says this trip should resolve any ambiguity and show their transparency regarding their nuclear aims. 2. VS) Although it may be hard to believe the US is in peace talks with the Taliban Several negotiators have been meeting with American officials in Qatar (kah-TAR) where they_re engaging in so-called trust-building measures. That includes discussions of a possible prisoner transfer.PP) However the Taliban have not publicly acknowledged that they_re engaging in any talks with the US. America on the other hand isn_t denying that negotiations are underway. Meanwhile the Afghan government was initially angry about not being involved but have since accepted that the talks would take place without their involvement.3. VS) Elsewhere in the Middle East the Syrian capital of Damascus saw some of its fiercest fighting to date over the weekend. At least 26 casualties were reported in the exchange between Syrian troops and opposition forces. The Syrian army regained control of much of the suburban region of Saqba (SAK-buh). PP) While the rebel Free Syrian Army seems to have been largely defeated it appears that they still have a small presence in the suburbs. Overall at least 60 people lost their lives nationwide just one day after the Arab League suspended its monitoring mission in Syria. Romney garnered a dominant 46-percent of the vote. Newt Gingrich was the runner-up at just 32-percent. Following a week in which both candidates lashed out at one another in vicious attack ads Romney assured supporters that all the infighting would only make the Republican party stronger in the end. SOUNDBITE-As for the rest of the field Rick Santorum pulled in 13-percent and Ron Paul had a paltry 5-percent. Watch for more election coverage a little later in our new segment Power Play with Victoria Sinclair.On the international stage Syrian authorities have lashed out at the US government by releasing one of the world_s top-ranking terrorists. Mustafa Setmariam Nasar (moos-TAHF-uh set-MAIR-ee-um na-SAR) was a close ally of Osama Bin Laden and is thought to be Al Qaeda_s fourth in command. In custody since 2005 he has been linked to a number of deadly attacks against civilians most notably the infamous 2004 train bombings in Madrid. According to the Times of London the Syrian government released him in late December as retaliation for Washington_s stance against the Assad regime. Meanwhile in New York US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton delivered a harsh message to members of the United Nations Security Council: stand with the people of Syria or be complicit in the Assad regime_s brutal crackdown on protesters. The UN is currently drafting a resolution that calls for the Syrian President_s resignation within fifteen days or else face quote unquote further measures. Aside from the US the Arab League nations France and Britain support the resolution. China and most notably Russia say that strong-arming the Assad regime could lead to dangerous repercussions including all-out war. A leading newspaper there recently called the holiday the work of forces with evil goals bent on putting an end to national values Instead officials have replaced Valentine_s Day themed concerts and other events in the country_s capital with medieval poetry readings Ah romance On the other end of the spectrum it sounds like Valentine_s Day should be made a national holiday in Japan A major baby shortage there has produced a grim outlook for the country_s future. Japan_s population is expected to shrink by almost a THIRD over the next fifty years There are currently 128 million people in Japan and that number_s expected to nosedive to just 87 million by 2060. And making matters even worse by that time almost half of the country_s population will be over the age of 65. Japan_s prime minister is looking to double sales taxes to help combat surging social security costs. And a scientific study has concluded that giant pythons are wreaking havoc on mammal populations in the Florida Everglades. Tens of thousands of Burmese pythons now live in the area. They can grow to weigh 200 pounds and measure 26 feet long. The Burmese python is also capable of swallowing an alligator whole The National Park Service says that 18-hundred pythons have been caught in the Everglades since 2000. The rising snake population has triggered a sharp decline in raccoons deer rabbits and foxes. Scientists fear it could throw the whole ecosystem out of whack. EA) I_m EARW) And I_m RW EA) And we_d like to welcome our global audience to world wide headquarters of NAKED NEWS RW) Today_s program starts with some breaking details on one of the most expensive settlement payments in American historyEA) The US government has struck a major deal with a handful of the nation_s biggest banks to recoup losses from the housing collapse.RW) So just HOW big are we talking here? Victoria Sinclair is in the naked newsroom to tell us. VS) Ladies Bank of America JP Morgan Chase Wells Fargo Ally Financial and Citigroup have agreed to a massive settlement deal with the US government worth an estimated 26 billion dollars Most of the money will go towards helping victims of alleged improper lending practices by banks. An investigation into the banks_ procedures indicated that many home foreclosures were done with incomplete or in some cases fraudulent paperwork. The deal will help 750-thousand citizens who lost their homes during the collapse. They_ll receive payments of two-thousand dollars each. A million others will have their mortgage plans refinanced. The funds will be distributed over the course of the next three years.For the first time in 34 years the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved licenses to build new nuclear reactors. They_ll be built by a group of utilities led by Southern Corporation and located at the Vogtle (VO-gull) nuclear power plant complex east of Atlanta Georgia. This marks the first time new licenses have been approved since before the Three Mile Island meltdown in 1979. Currently the US has 104 working reactors at 64 plants which provide 20-percent of the country_s energy. Of those reactors half of them are over 30 years old.Elsewhere in the US federal authorities are building a new barrier 300 feet into the ocean between Mexico and California. The 4-point-3 million dollar surf fence will hopefully deter illegal immigrants and smugglers from getting into the US between San Diego and Tijuana. It replaces the current barrier which isn_t much more than an uneven series of posts. This new one will be made of steel and concrete be up to 18 feet tall and should be more esthetically pleasing and secure. The project should be completed in about a month and last up to 30 years. With Tuesday_s MAJOR UPset we may be looking at a real game changer.RS) And who doesn_t love a good game changer Let_s hear the dirty details Nat NO) Thanks Rachel. Big wins for Rick Santorum on Tuesday as he swept all three Republican presidential contests. To the surprise of many pundits Santorum walked away with 70 delegates by clinching the Minnesota and Colorado caucuses as well as a nonbinding primary in Missouri. Needless to say this was unwelcome news for Mitt Romney who_d been riding high after a series of decisive wins in Florida New Hampshire and Nevada. At the very least Santorum is expected to replace Newt Gingrich as the GOP_s conservative alternative. And Mitt Romney_s troubles don_t stop there. A new poll says his support across the US has dipped over the past month. According to ReutersIpsos (IP-sis) the former Massachusetts governor now has the support of a mere 29 percent of Republican voters. Meanwhile his three main rivals Rick Santorum Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are in a virtual tie for second place. As for President Obama his approval rating has been steadily improved since the beginning of the year. It_s a boost attributed to the recent upswing in the US economy. With the political conflict in Syria showing no signs of ending the US has opted to not rule out potential military intervention. Although the current focus is on diplomatic pressure and economic sanctions the Pentagon is said to be scoping out alternatives. These could include anything from supporting anti-government forces to calling for an outright military strike. According to one senior official The Pentagon wouldn_t be doing its job if it didn_t put some ideas on the table. VS) Thank you ladies. A series of deadly drone attacks have claimed the lives of at least 13 Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen. Regional sources say that at least four of the men killed were local leaders of the terrorist group. Casualties also include a man with alleged links to attacks on the USS Cole and a French oil tanker that occurred more than a decade ago. Locals say the strikes targeted a school where Al-Qaeda fighters were staging a midnight meeting. Residents believe that US planes were responsible for the attacks. The American government has not released any official statement. In other news today US President Barack Obama DID address his administrationis use of drone attacks in Pakistan. It came along with candid discussion on a slew of other hot topics n during an hour long video hang-out on Google Plus Monday. Obama was quick to point out that drone attacks in Pakistan were conducted with precision and care. SOUNDBITE- Over 130-thousand questions were submitted before the event began and the chat was streamed live on YouTube. The town-hall style online meeting ended a week of social media driven PR for the White House that started shortly after the Presidentis State of the Union address. Next up a story that more befitting 1982 then 2012. Amid rising tensions the British navy has sent a destroyer to the Falkland Islands off the coast of Argentina. The HMS Dauntless is the first of the Navyis Type 45 air defense destroyers to be sent to the region. However the Ministry of Defense insists this is simply a routine deployment. It comes ahead of the 30th anniversary of the British invasion to recapture the islands as well as increased tensions over their sovereignty that have been on the rise recently. A night of soccer rioting has left the country reeling. Senior anchor Victoria Sinclair has been tracking the developments and joins us now with the latest. Vic?VS) Dozens are dead Eila and hundreds more are injured in what_s being called one of the deadliest sporting incidents the world has ever seen. EA) It_s scary to think that fans can get this heated over a simple game.VS) It is but we all know it_s more than JUST a game to some people. EA) I guess the big questions right now are HOW did this happen and WHO is responsible?VS) Both good questions - and both are still without clear answers. But here_s what we DO know. VS) Welcome to the newsroom everyone. 79 are now dead and up to a thousand injured after Wednesday_s clashes in Port Said (SY-eed) Egypt. This after thousands of fans of the home team stormed the field and attacked a smaller group of visiting supporters with knives rocks broken bottles and other weapons. Players from both teams ran for cover to their locker rooms. Critics have come down hard on riot police on-hand during the event accusing them of allowing fans with dangerous weapons to enter the venue in the first place. Police also appeared to do little to curb the violence when the trouble began. The Egyptian government has announced a three-day mourning period for those killed beginning Thursday. Now to some pretty big news out of Afghanistan. The US and NATO say they want to end their combat mission in the war torn country next year. US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says that he_d like troops to transition towards training roles and have local Afghan forces take the lead. That would mean the end of combat operations would come a year earlier then the deadline set by the White House. However officials are adamant that this is simply a plan and that nothing is set in stone quite yet. However it could be confirmed in May when NATO officials gather in Chicago.For many investors this is the holy grail of IPO_s. Facebook officially filed their Initial Public Offering on Thursday morning seeking to raise 5 billion dollars in capital. There_s still speculation as to what the company will be valued at but we_ll have a clearer picture the closer they come to actually trading. What IS known is that the social network earned a billion dollars last year on overall sales of 3.7 billion. 85 percent of their income comes from advertising with the rest coming from popular games like Farmville. It_s estimated that over a thousand new millionaires will be created when they go public. Natasha Olenski will have the rest of your business news shortly. Next up treasure hunting in 2012 may sound like a sucker_s errand but one man is looking to prove us wrong. Greg Brooks of Sub Sea Research has negotiated salvage rights to the Port Nicholson a UK merchant ship that sank off the US coast in 1942. Brooks says he has proof that 3 BILLION dollars worth of platinum is on board. His plan is to begin retrieving the bounty later this month. Hey Mr. Brooks just a thought but maybe avoid telling the world about your underwater fortune until you actually HAVE it? Say hi to the pirates for me.
